Juffair is an area of Manama, Bahrain that is experiencing exponential growth and development. Built upon land reclaimed from the ocean, its commercial properties and modern residential facilities have made Juffair very popular with established foreign residents, as well as young professionals. This suburb appears as a modern day Gotham City, with dramatic skyscrapers emerging out of the cobalt blue Arabian Sea.

This part of Bahrain used to be home to the British naval installation HMS Juffair and has subsequently been ceded to the United States for use as a Naval Support Academy. This Academy provides onshore administration offices and support services for the United States Navy's 5th Fleet, which maintains aircraft carriers and other ships in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. Therefore, there is a strong American presence in this part of Bahrain, and that culture has strongly influenced the restaurants and shops of Juffair. The Al Shabab Road is home to many U.S. chains, including: McDonalds, Chilli's, Starbucks and even a Dairy Queen. Shopping in the area also features several retail outlets of larger U.S. stores and shoppers have access to a wide selection of products.

The major attraction of Juffair is the Al Fateh Mosque, the largest mosque of Bahrain. Built by the late Sheikh Isa ibn Salman Al Khalifa in 1987, it can accommodate over seven thousand worshipers and is the largest mosque in Bahrain, and one of the largest in the world. The mosque can also claim another architectural distinction. The large dome covering the building is the largest fiberglass dome ever built. This mosque lures travel from all over the world for its splendor, and is the main tourist attraction in Bahrain. Also upon the grounds of the Al-Fateh Mosque is the new National Library, which was dedicated in 2006 and houses all of the country's important documents and manuscripts.

There are many upscale apartments and lofts in Juffair. One of the nicest is the Areej Building, which features central air conditioning, a gym and a swimming pool. Bahrain experiences very hot temperatures during the summer months and most of the newer residential buildings offer the full range of amenities to keep residents comfortable. There are even more condominiums and flats planned for the near future, and all incorporate the sleek, modern aesthetic for which Juffair is known.

This residential suburb of Manama is definitely one of the fastest growing areas of Bahrain. With the amount of development, both commercial and residential, that is currently scheduled, Juffair is an attractive destination for investment or tourist dollars.
